Meet Dr. Ester Haumann
Psychologist Oranjezicht: I am a clinical psychologist, Jungian analyst and Somatic experiencing Practitioner. Before starting a private practice in 1983, I received an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch in 1975. In 1996, I completed the training in Hypnotherapy (SASCH). Further studies led to a PhD in Psychotherapy from Rhodes University in 2005. In 2009, I became a Jungian analyst (IAAPP) and a member of the Southern African Association of Jungian Analysts (SAAJA).
I have also been part of the first Somatic Experiencing training group in South Africa. I am consulted by individuals grappling with a variety of life crises and difficulties, both personal and work-related. I work with clients with early trauma and attachment difficulties; clients suffering from mood and anxiety disorders; as well as those who struggle with affect regulation and interpersonal boundaries.
Dealing with stress, life changes, working through loss and grief and relationship issues are also part of my work. In the treatment plan that is specifically worked out and geared towards the needs of every individual client, there is an emphasis on personal development and the facilitation of increased psychic resilience. The mind-body dimension is an integral part of my therapeutic approach and in this regard I use approaches like Embodied Dream Work and Somatic Experiencing.

Graduated with a MSc in Clinical Psychology (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch.
Lectured for two years at UWC.
Established private practice.
Senior Diploma in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, South African Institute for Psychotherapy.
Completed training in Hypnotherapy (Phase III) with the South African Society of Clinical Hypnotherapy (SASCH).
Completed a PhD in Psychotherapy from Rhodes University.
Completed training as a Jungian analyst at the Southern African Association of Jungian Analysts (SAAJA). Became a member of SAAJA and the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP).
Completed training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.
